Century Swift

Century Swift (2006)

My Swift

Electric helicopter 550 size (30 Glow) with two motor options.  Standard motor for 4 cell Li-po operation to allow for training and mild aerobatics or the higher spec motor for 6 cell Li-po operation giving 3D capability.  Performed very well and used successfully in 3D masters however, strange shape undercarriage legs meant it was vulnerable to tipping over when attempting Auto's; how do I know that!!!  Cure for this was to heat up the landing legs and straighten them out which gave a nice wide track to the legs and removed the tipping problem.  Auto performance was good with carbon blades as the helicopter itself is very light and with a wind headwind it would almost 'hover' and just gently 'float' down; unfortunately though in calm conditions without a driven tail it tended to start rotating if attempting to hover before touching down.
