MIA Conversions

After the 'finger size' model of 2006, MIA concentrated on consolidating the range and with the increased demand for MIA products, reducing the backlog of orders.  The market had also changed with a number of others now making 'micro' and 'Palm size' models with the Chinese firm Walkera being one such manufacturer; the models flew well, were marketed widely and most of all were cheap (relatively).  The models appearing on the scene whilst generally flying well all suffered from one major problem, they were made down to a price and as such had weaknesses that even only reasonably 'hard' use would soon highlight.  Also. from a MIA point of view, whilst the worked in an engineering fashion, they lacked the 'look' of a proper RC helicopter and gave the appearance of 'toys'.

MIA therefore decided that to meet these models 'head on' with his own range of helicopters would have been beyond the capacity of MIA's production capability so instead a sideways move was made into full time upgrades.

MIA Walkera 4#3 (2008)

Original Walkera 4#3   MIA Walkera 4#3 conversion   3D version

Suitable for all versions of the 4#3 and as can be seen, removes the 'toy' like look to give a proper helicopter feel and also replaced the landing gear with a similar lightweight layout but made of more robust materials.

MIA Walkera 5#6 (2008)

Original Walkera 5#63   MIA Walkera 5#63 conversions

Second model covered with multiple options for conversion including the 'tuff' type landing gear and multiple variations to give  a more distinctive look.

MIA Upgrade program

After the 4#3 and 5#6 Walkera models there followed a range of upgrades for the various other makes of palm size helicopters that were beginning to appear on the scene.  Additionally, as most of the Palm size helicopters were very similar in construction the MIA upgrades could be made applicable to all machines though a few did need minor modifications to be fully successful.
