F3C - Radio control helicopters

May be in the early days early 70s every helicopter was a competition model.

The Class hat the first international competitions in the 80s. Each competition had to have competitors from 5 different nations to establish the class on FAI level.
So funny things happened those days. J.P. Dupont had to switch between his Belgian and Monegasque nationality to keep the number. The competitions were held in different European countries.

1983 most countries did their team selections with the F3C schedule.

1984 the first European Championship took place in Eibergen NL.

1985 the first World Championship was held in London Ontario CAN.

The heli world saw Ewald Heim GER as the first European champion and Shigetada Taya JPN as the first world champion.

We would like to keep the history alive on this page. You may go to the CIAM F3C page for an awesome followup of the history as well.   FAI-F3
