Introduced in 1990 was Hirobo's attempt at making a 'pocket' size helicopter that would be cheap and easy to operate.  The engine was mounted vertically and employed a 'top start' drive instead of the more normal belt.  In order to further reduce height and to make the design more compact it utilised an unusual two swashplate control system. The lower swash plate was located below the main gear and was controlled by linkages from the servo's.  Linkages from this swash plate then ran up the side of the main shaft to the upper swash plate which controlled the head in the normal manner.  The prototype was at one time flybarless with the unusual feature of a one piece bearingless head.  For production purposes though a 'normal' flybar type assembly was fitted.

Unfortunately the helicopter employed parts used by the shuttle series and thus turned out to be slightly larger and heavier than if it had been designed to use 'bespoke' parts; result being that the OS 11 CZ-H size motor available at the time proved only just adequate for the task.

Hirobo BK117 (1989) & Ecureuil 2 (1990)

The MH-10 was also supplied with the option of being fitted into two scale fuselages (Bolkow BK 117 and Ecureuil 2)either directly or as an 'upgrade'.  They did not particularly add a great deal to the weight and because of the motor issue the flight characteristics were very scale like.

The Hirobo MH-10 and Bolkow fuselage was also marketed by Graupner.
