Whilst forty size engines were suitable for hovering and general circuit work they lacked the urge needed for more spirited flying.  Unfortunately it would not be possible to fit a larger engine to the model as blade length was limited by body size so as it would require a new fuselage and similar to the Huey of 77, the new design was for a sixty size engine and incorporated all of the same updates i.e. new scale rotor head, the revised collective 'pitch up' linkages which removed the collective-cyclic mixing of the original design and option of hand pull or belt start systems.  Both these models sizes of the JetRanger were to be sold in Tandem in order to cater for those who wanted a big scale model; or those who wanted a smaller scale, easier handling model.

For 1979 an optional main shaft 'free wheel' assembly was available in order to allow autorotation.

1980 electric start option

For the ultimate though adding an extra 0.5 Kg or so in weight, the pull start could be replaced with an onboard electric starter; cost £120 which was the equivalent to the cost of an engine and gyro together so did not really sell to the 'average' helicopter modeller.
