Vintage RC Helicopters - KKK Kobe Helicopters
An early Far East manufacturer active in the late 70's early 80's. Originally marketed under the shortened title of KKK however, as KKK in the US meant something completely unrelated to helicopters (Klu Klux Klan), for this market it was prudently decided to change to KG. KKK Hughes 300 The Hughes came in three versions 50 glow size and petrol model Vi and V2 with the 20cc 'echo' petrol engine. Reported to have flown well but too soft a material used for the arms on the blade holders and the main frame with the result that they were prone to suffering vibration. The blades also needed to be tightened up and not allowed to swing free plus being 'high point' balanced otherwise this serious gave vibration. However with care in setting up they could be vibration free. Don't have any detailed information on this model however as can be seen from the photo's there are two distinctly different flybar type heads plus the three blade scale version. Hughes 300 build diagrams - Swedish version KKK Robinson R22HP
Two models covers, one for 50/60 size glow engines and the other for the 20cc 'echo' petrol; both flybarless. Robinson R22 review - Swedish with good pictures KKK Fox Pod and boom aerobatic helicopter for 50/60 size engines and gasser. KKK Stunt Homer Notes indicate a forth model, reasonably well made with a machined and encased transmission. report indicated the tail was not up to the job and hunted, probably due to the blades being too small. No other information available. Top of Page (VRHC - Vintage Radio controlled HeliCopters) |
