Vintage RC Helicopters - Joe's Collection - Kavan Joe's Collection - Kavan Joe William Richardson Kavan JetRanger (1973) Bought in Jan 08; original version with flybar type head. Restoration project and appears complete though as yet not fully inspected. Kavan JetRanger - Flybarless (1979)
Bought in Nov 07; flybarless version which had been recently refurbished and fitted with modern CF blades which are heavy enough to tame the flight characteristics. In Jan 09 it was given a good check and fitted with a Vario multi-blade head gyro; engine test run but compression was poor so put into storage pending engine repair/replacement. Kavan Alouette (1975) Bought in Nov 07; incomplete and had been used as a static model thus it was missing all the engine/clutch bits. Fixed pitch control but because of the number of parts missing and the lack of spares a rebuild was not really viable though conversion to electric would be easier. In Mar 09 it appeared that parts were once again being manufactured plus I also had by then the Flybarless upgrade set so the rebuild to this configuration was starting to come together. Bought Oct 09; another E-bay purchase but this time a complete helicopter along with engine and old Futaba 'M' radio gear; fixed pitch version. Kavan Shark Bought Jul 09 as a bag of bits for £7 off E-bay and originally intended to help build up one of the Alouette 2's. Upon inspection though it was found to be a near enough complete 'Shark' with only the wooden side pieces and the canopy missing. With new parts being available a full complete rebuild could be undertaken. Kavan Ranger Bought Dec 10, near complete but not quite..
