Joe's Collection - Graupner  Joe William Richardson

Graupner Bell 212 D-HOPP

Acquired in Mar 10 in a swap for a T-rex 600 electric helicopter.  Checked over and needed a few minor electrical changes however ran out of time so put into storage.

Jun 10 eventually after much trials and tribulations got the engine running and managed a couple of sessions.  impressed with the controllability of the helicopter given that it is a 1973 head design and I was hovering it in very gusty conditions; though pitch control is limited and very 'soggy'.  Flew it with a mechanical rate gyro though once set up properly may try it with the gyro switched out just to see what it was like 'in the day'.  Looks good doing figure of eights and head high hovering though intend to get the engine a bit more reliable before being more adventurous; don't want to risk it (even though I have 'Katchina' as well); must try and get a video of it flying..........

Graupner Bell 212 Katchina

Bought in May 07 as a recent new build of an old kit but with an original HB engine; no time to check over so put into storage.  In May 09 I gave it a 'once over' then tested the engine but it appeared to have poor compression so put to one side pending replacement however; like a nugget I damaged the horizontal fin by walking it into a bench whilst not looking properly................

Graupner Bell 47G

Bought it from E-bay (where else?) in Sep 09.  Not complete but appears to have a new HB25 engine; going to be interesting (read possibly very frustrating) finding spares to finish this one.

Graupner Bell Trainer

Apr 10 bought as an unfinished new build kit originally sold in 1979.

Graupner MH-10

Bought Mar 10 from E-bay Germany and on receipt is identical to the 'Hirobo' MH-10 so the question of if they were different or not was answered.  Though complete, it had a number of repaired/damaged parts (including the frame) however, all can be replaced from the relevant 'Hirobo' spares box.
