Vintage RC Helicopters - Autogyro's Autogyro's It is considered that the development and success of the Autogyro paved the way in making the 'true' helicopter a viable proposition. Unfortunately, once the helicopter established itself, the autogyro almost overnight became a stagnant backwater for further development. It is only fitting that this near 'forgotten' type of aircraft is also mentioned in the RC guise on this site. Chippewa 4 Presented as a plan with building and flying report in RCM&E 1972. This was the forth autogyro in the designers series and had first successfully flown in 1970. DB Autogyro Based on a design by Bob Brown and marketed by DB models (David Boddington) in early 1975. Micro-Mold 'Wallis' Autogyro General layout of my 2011 purchase. MM 'Wallis' Autogyro review - 1982 review in RCM&E MM 'Wallis' Autogyro Update - 1984 review in RCM&E Robbe Whopper A very large RC Autogyro for 10cc engines and having a rotor diameter of 1620mm. Silverbird
Current Web sites http://www.autogyro.com/models/models.htm - Old inactive site that has been left in place for reference but starting to degrade as links are broken. http://www.aerobalsa.com/ - American site and active in selling autogyro's. Site also includes some full size history videos etc so well worth a visit. Top of Page (VRHC - Vintage Radio controlled HeliCopters) |
